St Peters crushes goal for First Shave
It was an action-filled Friday afternoon in Upper Island Cove as St. Peter’s Elementary held their very first Shave for the Brave event on June 5, 2015! St. Peter’s set a goal of $2,000 for their first Shave for the Brave, and totally crushed it, raising $5,800!

Survivor aims to raise $1 for each new YA diagnosis with Shave
Chris Chow stopped cutting his hair back in August. He doesn’t like it, and thinks of it as a “hideous, massive” clump of hair on his head, but it’s part of the fourth stage of a type of remission recognition plan that sees him undertake a large philanthropic or personal venture each year.

Survivor Aideen braves her third Shave!
Aideen Smith has seen the full impact of the Shave for the Brave. She is a colon cancer and familial adenomatous polyposis survivor, a member of YACC’s community, and a Shaver who signed up for the 2013 Shave for the Brave as soon as the event was launched.

The Bravest School Challenge has been issued in Nova Scotia!
Millwood High School was Nova Scotia’s first school to join the Shave for the Brave and they finished the 2012 season with 15 heads Shaved and almost $1,600 raised.

2012 recap
You are welcome to Shave for the Brave any time you like, but the impending fiscal year end and the decrease of activity means the 2012 Shave season has officially wrapped.
It has been a fantastic year with more heads Shaved (over 1,839), more money raised (more than $700,000!), and more schools and offices on board than every before. We met so many great new people and heard so many great stories over the past six months, and we can’t wait to continue building these relationships.

BMW/MINI in St. John’s got in on the action!
The BMW/MINI dealership in St. John’s held their first-ever Shave for the Brave on April 23, 2012.
A total of 10 Shavers raised $2,420 to support young adults dealing with cancer in Canada

As if Firefighters weren’t heroes already!
The St. John’s Regional Fire Department Central Fire Station has been Shaving for the Brave for years. This year, they decided to skip the line up at the Avalon Mall and held their event at their station on April 28, 2012.
They had 12 Shavers and two Mane Mamas at the event who raised $2,592, including a $1,000 donation from the Fire Fighters Association.

St. Anne’s School in Conne River, NL held their first Shave for the Brave on April 20, 2012.

The Skiffington Shave
Thea Skiffington hadn’t cut her hair in a long time. She wanted to Shave for the Brave, and gave up double the required length of 10 inches per donation for 22-inch braids. At the end of the day, her 22 inches earned a remarkable $4,500!
