Introducing the Recover Study leadership team!

By Pam Crotty, senior research manager

I am happy to announce the formation of the first YACC Recover Study leadership team! Please join me in welcoming Ainsley, Carolyn, Karl-Erik, Meghan, Michaela, Michelle, and Sarah!

YACC’s Recover Study is a community-led project, and while there are a few people with lived experience as young adults affected by cancer currently working on the project, we wanted to invite more to get involved in a meaningful way, so we created a leadership team!

This team will meet with YACC staff regularly over the next two years to ensure the study involves the young adult cancer community’s interests and ideas, and to discuss ideas related to things like recruitment, funding, analysis, and more.

How did we arrive at the first Recover Study leadership team?

In the fall of 2023, we extended an invitation to YACCers to apply for this leadership team. Through a rigorous review process, we narrowed the applicants down to seven people from the original pool of almost 50! During our process, we took great care to ensure the leadership team reflects the diversity of the YACC community.

The leadership team is composed of individuals who were selected for their specific fields of expertise, personal experiences, and backgrounds to ensure YACC has a wide breadth of knowledge included in decision making. It was a very difficult decision as we had so many wonderful, talented, and engaged people apply. Although we could not offer all applicants an official spot on the leadership team, we hope everyone will maintain their enthusiasm to impact the Recover Study.
