Recover Leadership Team

East asian woman, with a light to medium skin tone, medium length straight hair, wearing gold earrings.

Carolyn Van (she/her) is intuitive, analytical and is known to have a “perfect blend of strategic and implementation skills.” She is an entrepreneur, tech innovator, academic educator, and management consultant. Carolyn was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma at 29 years old in 2014 and underwent numerous chemotherapy rounds, radiation and a stem cell transplant. She frames her experience as a life event that posed learning opportunities and catalyzed the surfacing superpowers that she continues to invest in and practice which help thrive in other areas of her life.

She initially connected with YACC as an adventurer on a Retreat Yourself Adventure trip in 2015. Since then she has stayed in touch, participated, volunteered, and worked with the team to help contribute to the ongoing growth and evolution of the organization.

Contributing to the direction of this study is important to Carolyn as she acknowledges that there is a great deal of work to be done, opportunities to create and leverage, and sees the possibilities of better futures ahead for more of those affected by young adult cancer.
