As if Firefighters weren’t heroes already!
The St. John’s Regional Fire Department Central Fire Station has been Shaving for the Brave for years. This year, they decided to skip the line up at the Avalon Mall and held their event at their station on April 28, 2012.
They had 12 Shavers and two Mane Mamas at the event who raised $2,592, including a $1,000 donation from the Fire Fighters Association.

St. Anne’s School in Conne River, NL held their first Shave for the Brave on April 20, 2012.

The Skiffington Shave
Thea Skiffington hadn’t cut her hair in a long time. She wanted to Shave for the Brave, and gave up double the required length of 10 inches per donation for 22-inch braids. At the end of the day, her 22 inches earned a remarkable $4,500!

Are you man enough to wax your legs?
Crosbie Group Limited in St. John’s showed us what they were willing to do to help young adults deal with cancer in Canada–and it involved a lot of pain.
Building on the back-waxing at their first Shave in 2011, some participants agreed to lose a little body hair in addition to Shaving their heads. They took turns on the massage tables and had their legs waxed as their colleagues watched.
When it was all said and done, three people raised $8,241.
