I identify as an Atlantic Canadian, straight, university student, acute myeloid leukaemia survivor, passionate for helping others, and unapologetically myself.
Michaela (she/her) is passionate, funny, and down to earth. She is a young adult cancer thriver. Diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in early March 2015 at age 17, Michaela underwent chemotherapy and was declared in remission almost two months later in late April.
She connected with YACC in mid 2021 when she stumbled across the plethora of online resources and community stories available through the website. She has since begun participating in YACC Chats, and knew immediately that she wanted to be more involved in YACC programs! She is looking forward to participating in more upcoming YACC events.
Michaela’s growing understanding of her own cancer experience and her desire to encourage others in similar situations is why she is excited to be a YACCtivist!
