Localife Ottawa: How sweet it is (at the sugar shack)
Seventeen survivors and supporters descended on La Domaine de L’Ange Guardien — a sugar shack located on the Quebec side about 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa — for an evening of tasty pancakes on March 28, 2015.

Localife Vancouver embraces the magic of a wing night
A group of seven gathered to taste test as many wings as Jimy Mac’s Pub in Langley could provide. Some popular flavors of the night were definitely barbecue and salt and pepper, so if those strike your fancy, make sure to come along next time!

BREAKING NEWS: Knock off Shave toques found on Canadian streets
After years of fending off requests from non-Shavers looking to acquire one of our coveted, signature yellow toques it appears a forger has entered the market. Early investigations lead back to Joe Feehan, the swindler implicated in last year’s black market hair trade which saw braids and ponytails donated during Shave season getting shipped off to a remote village nestled in the Himalayas.

Heather's blog: 2015 isn't about letting go; it's about taking risks
Last year was a year of growth for me. So far, 2015 is starting out to be a year of letting go and making big changes. In one version of the presentations I give at schools (I am constantly rewriting, revamping, and rediscovering), I encourage students to not be afraid to change the things that make them unhappy. I am now trying to put into practice what I preach.

Whether or not you identify with the term ‘survivor,’ been to Survivor Conference a few times, are attending Retreat Yourself in April, aren’t sure about the registration fee or travel costs, nervous about the food, nervous about your room, etc. — we’ve heard it all, and we’re calling you out. Fundraiser was all fun and games
Nick White, Kristen Pike, and their friends held a board game night in support of YACC on March 5, 2015 at Quidi Vidi Brewery in St. John’s, NL. The group of about 30 people raised $98 to support young adults affected by cancer.

As soon as Sonia Lafreniere’s inaugural Shop for the Brave ended, she was already thinking about the next one, and set a goal to get two people to a YACC program through it!

Shining a spotlight on the uber engaged
Since 2006, March has been taken over by Shave for the Brave here at YACC. While it’s our largest fundraiser, it’s by no means the only way people help out, so this month we’re going to shine the spotlight on some of the superstars in our community who take the time to help their cancer peers.
