Sleeping, Moving, and Lots More Sleeping

Hey all, sorry again for my long gap between messages, but I have been kept quite busy. When I haven’t been having lots of activity – like seeing Mario and Penguins play here last Thursday, 2-0 win for the Pens, very nice, or having back to back day-passes – then I’m been doing very little and sleeping. In fact I would guess that I’ve slept 90% of today so far, and I could easily roll over right now. While all this sleep is a little frustrating for me I feel it is a great habit to get into as my body definitely needs plenty of rest right now.

Over the past number of days I’ve had this Pain Patch I’ll call it, which is apparently great at fighting pain and also on making you very sleepy. Well I wasn’t having too much pain, still not really, and the crazy things this patch was doing to me were unwanted. I literally couldn’t function, so twice I requested to have that removed and the Docs have obliged.

Then yesterday and the day before I managed to get 2 day-passes and get out of here for a while, very good for me physically and nice for a change of scenery and some home cooking!! Today however this passes have caught up with me a little I feel and as a result I’ve been laying very low all day, sleeping most of it.

The past 5 days have also seen me spike my first and now today second temperatures since Transplant. I started one round of antibiotics last Thursday, and now with today’s spike I’ll start another round to complement that approach. The temps aren’t making me feel too bad yet, and nor are the drugs which are great Positives, the only big things that is causing me trouble is my mouth, throat and the fact that I’ve had the hiccups for over a week!! No joke, I’ve had the hiccups since early last week, and when I first got them they were really persistent, as in I went spans of 24 hours straight without a break from them. Unfortunately the meds they use to treat the hiccups haven’t been a big focus so the progress with mine has been slow. But I am pleased to report that they are improving. I never knew hiccups could be so troublesome, but let me tell you when they set in and start coming from way down in your gut, they move you man. And it makes drinking and eating a big time Challenge. But they are Challenges we are moving through.

So I’m settled here in my room on 5 West and it is quite “calm” – so much so that some one, a Patient before me wrote that word on the wall in sparkling block letters, it looks great – and my room is great. I am very comfortable here and am prepared to stay in here for as long as it takes, which is of course a complete unknown. Hope you’ve had a great past number of days and are settled into this week. (My eyes playing tricks again, so please forgive the grammar mistakes)

Thanks for the patience, you’ll see me when you see me.

Always…
Live Life. Love Life.

Geoff
