Hi all, just got back in my hotel room after my big marrow assessment and then to the airport to drop Dad and have lunch with Mom. Well, there I was in PMH (the hospital) waiting, and then waiting and then experiencing the logistical problems of their system and I must report that the PMH is just as crappy as ours. Sure it looks a little more dressy but the processes are the same, the same problems exist. Anyway after 1.5 hours of waiting and some frustration I left the blood clinic without donating and saw the Doc’s.
About 1.5-2 hours with two Doctors, lots of info and one major decision to be made. I have OD’ed on info and will take a while to let it all sink in. Dr. Lipton, one of the lead Dr.’s spent the last few minutes with me and he is a nice guy, who I will be able to get along with. He recommended that I continue with my current treatment schedule, which I will do. I will probably start Game 3 shortly after I arrive home and from there he is looking for me to come back up during mid to late April to have a Transplant, which he also recommended I have.
As I have said I have had a ton of info thrown at me and the Transplant decision is something I have time to think about, so I will take it. I will say this, the numbers and all other signs definitely point to having a Transplant, but there are other factors that are involved in my decision. I will keep you updated on my thoughts regarding the Transplant and everything else.
Not much else to say except that I did see a very old friend of mine in the lobby of PMH, some of you may remember him, The Friendly Giant!!!!! NO joke I sit down in the lobby of PMH with Mom waiting for Dad to park the car, and Friendly is sitting next to me. Anyway, what a wild experience.
You’ll hear from me soon.
Geoff
