Jamie Carswell | Red Deer, AB
Diagnosed with Stage III invasive ductal carcinoma at 23
Jamie is an RCMP CST with a passion for boxing, camping, quadding, travelling, being a super mom, playing with her dog, music, soulful conversation, tight hugs, cooking, comfortable silence, party planning, and anything else that gets her heart racing.
She says the major challenges she faced as a young adult with cancer are dealing with the stigma that goes along with being a “survivor,” and the inability to make other people feel better about her diagnosis.
Jamie is currently in chemically-induced menopause.

Which superpower would you love to have?
To be able to see people’s souls instead of their physical beauty at first glance.
What are people always surprised to learn about you?
That I am a police officer.
What’s your hidden talent?
I can tell when someone is lying.
What’s your favourite YACC memory?
All of them!
What has been your greatest achievement?
My amazing son.
