At our monthly team meetings, one of our crew members discusses some of our five values: strength, courage, commitment, heart, and spark. This is Angie’s reflection from this month’s meeting.
We reflect on YACC’s values each month to keep us connected to our work of helping young adults live with, through, and beyond cancer, but since this is the first meeting of 2019, I want to use them as a guide for how my work can be more effective this year.
Strength: I will continue to check in with myself to ensure I am focused, clear-headed, and on the right path.
Courage: I will push the boundaries of my comfort zone to change the way we do some things, bring action to some things we’ve wanted to do for a while, and try things I’m not entirely sure about.
Commitment: I will take part in a fundraising event, and/or encourage my network to do the same, so YACC can continue to offer life-changing programs for the young adults who need them.
Heart: I will let the silences stay silent instead of trying to fill them in an effort to not make the other person feel uncomfortable or self-conscious. Sometimes we just need a minute to get some thoughts in order.
Spark: I will reprioritize creating web content to help turn our new website into a hub of information and inspiration for people affected by young adult cancer.
Now let’s get to it.
Which one of YACC’s values do you most identify with? How will you apply it this year?
