Just like our community, support for Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC) comes in many diverse forms and from all walks of life. The one thing our supporters always have in common is an amazing level of generosity that we are incredibly grateful for!
Earlier this year, the Get YACCtive initiative, spearheaded by YACC ambassador and young adult cancer survivor Mike Dawe, teamed up with Modo Yoga in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador. For the month of March 2024, Modo Yoga’s weekly Karma Classes raised an amazing $1,182.69 for YACC!
To express some summer gratitude, Mike Dawe and YACC founder and executive director Geoff Eaton met with Modo Yoga teacher and energy exchange manager Jacquelyn Holden at the studio. Mike wanted to extend a special thanks to Modo Yoga, teacher Sarah Mathews, Lululemon for their donations of swag and support for the project, as well as everyone who attended and “shared time and space on the mat.”

With the generous donation from Modo Yoga’s Karma Classes, the Get YACCtive initiative has now raised over $24,000 for Young Adult Cancer Canada!
“Cancer has remained a nightmare for me since I was first diagnosed on April 29, 2021,” said Mike Dawe in an Instagram post about the collaboration with Modo Yoga. “However, the goal and vision have always been relentlessly focused on turning this experience into something more powerful and positive at every possible opportunity. To date, we have achieved this goal.”

Any time community comes together to help community is a huge win in our books. Thanks to efforts such as Get YACCtive’s collaboration with Modo Yoga, YACC can continue to provide important programs and support for young adults living with, through, and beyond cancer.
