I am a married, Canadian, colorectal cancer survivor, and a passionate adult fan of Lego and birds.
Laura (she/her) is creative, grateful, and excited. She is a young adult cancer survivor, having been diagnosed in September 2020 with colorectal cancer with liver mets, she underwent some radiation, 40 rounds of chemotherapy, had a temporary ileostomy for 13 months, and has recovered from three major surgeries — including one on her 36th birthday in 2022.
She connected with YACC thanks to her Cancer Coach who invited her to Primetown 2021. Since then she has participated in numerous virtual YACC Chats, attended the Ottawa House Party, and YACC Live 2024. Her desire to continue to feel connected with others and give back to this community is what inspired her to step up as a Localife Ottawa leader.
