About Kirsten

Kirsten is all about building meaningful connections and helping fuel the amazing work YACC does for young adults living with, through, and beyond cancer.

She has worked in the nonprofit world for several years, mostly focused on fundraising, donor engagement, and community giving—basically, she loves bringing people together to support causes that matter. She is super excited to be part of a team that’s passionate, driven, and genuinely cares about making a difference.

Outside of work, she is usually found hanging out with friends and family, checking out local coffee shops, or wandering a trail somewhere with a good playlist in her ears.

What’s your favourite place in the world?

Hands down, Ireland. The views, the vibes, the people — I’d go back in a heartbeat.

What do you do when you’re not at YACC?

You’ll probably find me reading, journaling, playing guitar, learning tarot, or heading out for a walk, hike, or bike ride—anything that helps me stay grounded and curious.

What are your words of wisdom/favourite quote?

Nevertheless, she persisted.

What attracted you to YACC?

Honestly, it was the heart behind the mission. The way YACC shows up for young adults in real, personal, and powerful ways really stood out to me. The sense of community here is something special, and I knew I wanted to be part of it.

What are people always surprised to learn about you?

I used to be super shy and quiet! Fundraising helped me come out of my shell, now I love meeting new people and having meaningful conversations every day.

What were you like as a kid?

Creative, sensitive, and always daydreaming. I had a big imagination, loved animals, and spent a lot of time writing stories, making up songs, and spending time outdoors in the creek with dear friends.

Which superpower would you like to have?

Definitely time travel. I’d love the chance to explore the past, peek into the future, and maybe relive a few special moments along the way.

What’s your hidden talent?

I have a serious eye for detail, thanks to a little OCD flair. It’s a blessing and a curse, but it means I can spot a typo a mile away and organize just about anything like a pro.

What do you wish you could do?

I wish I could learn a new language fluently and be able to travel the world without limits, imagine all the places I could go and the people I could meet!
