Joseph (he/him) is aware, positive, and caring. He is a young adult cancer survivor. Joseph was diagnosed in 2012 with lung cancer; he underwent two surgeries which resulted in the loss of 2/3 of his right lung and is now cancer free. This year makes nine years since the beginning of his cancer-free journey.
Joey connected with YACC in 2015 and attended Retreat Yourself Ontario. Since then, he has participated in and volunteered for performances and speaking engagements which centred around lung cancer. Joey has performed and had his story featured in/for Lung Cancer Canada, Ontario Lung Association, Princess Margaret Foundation, CTV/CHCH/GlobalTV, and many others.
Feeling blessed with the opportunity to give back, Joey hopes to assist with raising awareness and funding for cancer research and treatments.
