Why did you get involved with YACC?
In 2017, my 18-year-old son was diagnosed with esthesioneuroblastoma. Soon thereafter, my son reached out to YACC. YACC understood what it was like for a young adult to be left behind as their friends went on to university. They understood that when chemo was finished, the battle wasn’t over. They understood that during treatment, every day was set by the medical professionals, and when you go home, you needed to figure that out on your own. YACC understood how isolating cancer can be to young adults. I am grateful to have the opportunity to give back to YACC as a board member.
What’s your favorite sports team/place in the world?
My favourite thing to do is to hike in the Rocky Mountains. The Rockies have a way of making everything in life seem small and insignificant. And nothing tops a coffee in the morning while you breath in the crisp, mountain air. When I’m not hiking, I like to spend time with my family or to watch the Edmonton Oilers.
What has been your greatest achievement?
My most significant achievement is raising my four sons. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience to see them grow and develop as individuals.
