On May 5, 2018, 56 Shavers came out to the Avalon Mall to Shave for the 13th year! One of the biggest things we took away from this powerful event was just how many people come back year after year. It wasn’t unusual to meet someone who was Shaving for the fifth, 8th, 11th time!

August 03, 2015Sweet payoff for female Shaver at Community Shave!
At Canada’s largest Shave for the Brave, first-time participant Titia Praamsma felt the temptation to turn back, until stepping into the heart of the event eased her fears. After losing a cousin and a friend’s sister to cancer, she wanted to give back, wondering if donating her hair and time could help others on a difficult journey.
With strong support from family, friends, and coworkers, Titia surpassed her $2,000 goal. The Shave brought unexpected challenges—navigating social events with a drastic new look made her reflect on how many women feel during cancer treatment. But she says it was worth every moment.
“Definitely sign up,” she says. “It’s a chance to step into someone else’s shoes, dig deep, and find some beauty within.”
