We have been piloting Localife in Calgary for a little while and we’re ready to roll it out to Edmonton, Toronto, and Ottawa–but we need your help.
We are looking for eight volunteers (two from each city) who are interested in coordinating Localife events in their areas.
Localife is an activity-based group for young adult cancer survivors and their supporters to get together without a strict program outline. The activities will change, conversation will flow, and communities will strengthen.
Criteria
- You are a cancer survivor* or supporter between the ages of 18 and 39;
- You reside in Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, or Ottawa;
- You have attended at least one YACC event;
- You have at least 2-3 hours a week to spend on Localife.
You are passionate about helping others, outgoing, charasmatic, empathetic, and enthusiastic about building YACC’s community. You handle challenges with creativity and optimism and you are a self-started with great time-management skills. You are trustworthy and determined to see projects through from start to finish, and are not overwhelmed with other responsibilities. Most of all, you are in a place of peace and acceptance with your cancer experience.
Interested individuals should complete this application form and email it to shali@youngadultcancer.ca by Friday, March 16, 2012.
Once the selection process is completed, we will hold a three-day training session to prepare Localife leaders to plan events and build a network. The dates for this session are tentative and dependent upon the leaders’ availability.
Don’t worry if your city hasn’t been identified just yet; we are definitely planning to bring Localife to more areas and will let you know when the next locations have been identified.
We look forward to your applications, and we can’t wait to bring this fun, casual activity to you!
