NL Energy sector supports record-breaking Shave

The NL Energy Shave for the Brave took place at the end of Resilient and ReEnergized Noia 2021 conference on September 22, 2021 at the St. John’s Convention Centre.

Mark Collett, Chief Operating Officer at Crosbie, put his “head” on the line for the event, encouraging organizations and individuals throughout the oil and gas sector to support this event as a way of saying thank you to Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC), an organization which has shown support for the industry for years. At the time of the event, over $265,000 had been raised in support of the cause.

Mark was joined on stage by YACC founder and Executive Director, Geoff Eaton; YACC Community member and local singer/songwriter, Kathy Stock; Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, Andrew Parsons; as well as Diamond Sponsor representatives Suncor Senior Naval Architectural Engineer, Kris Barrett; Country President Equinor Canada, Torstein Hole; Cenovus Senior Vice President, Jonathan Brown; and ExxonMobil Canada President, Lazaro Cosma.

The event opened with a conversation about young adult cancer between Geoff and Kathy which led into the “mane” event everyone was waiting for. Each Diamond Sponsor representative helped prepare Mark for the most impactful haircut of his life.

Geoff took the reins and finished the job as “Courage” by The Tragically Hip played in the background.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this Shave such a success from Mark, to the teams at Crosbie and Noia who helped with the details, to the sponsors and supporters who contributed to this mind-blowing total. Every cancer, every stage, YACC’s got the backs of young adults living with, through, and beyond cancer. Thank you for having ours.
