Nothing brings people together quicker than food and the open chance of a kitchen party! It didn’t matter that it was just 11 a.m., Localife Toronto attendees brought their hunger and spirit for an incredible interactive cooking session offered and facilitated by ELLISCR at Toronto General Hospital.
We used Game of Things as the icebreaker, and it was a great game to play! Survivors and supporters had some interesting and hilariously similar responses for questions varying from: “What would you like to get from a vending machine?” to “What to you say when a telemarketer calls?”
Saturday’s interactive menu included making pasta and pesto from scratch. Geremy Capone (our chef and impeccable educator) led us through the entire experience of making our distinct dishes. A pre-mixed selection of “Italian cooking music” was located on YouTube, and there were non-stop laughs as we all became a little more “Pizan” by the time we sat down to eat. As the pictures show, our little family got closer as we helped each other finish making our meals.
Geremy finished off our experience with a tasty mixed fresh fruit, oven baked crumble and there wasn’t an empty stomach to be found in the room! There are several easy, healthy recipes offered by ELLISCR on their website if you’re interested.
Thank you Localife Toronto for such an incredible afternoon!
Your Localife leaders,
Peter and Bonnie
