‘Heidi Bonnell recalls her Roman holiday two Christmases ago as the happiest she’d ever been. She was newly engaged, there was a wedding to plan, and babies she hoped in her future.
As she was dressing in the bathroom of her hotel room, the prominent Ottawa political operative caught site of a suspicious spot on her back. On mole patrol for most of her adult life, Bonnell often had irregular growths cut out and biopsied from her fair skin.
This one worried the then 34-year-old.’
