Cookstown Central Public School rocks 2nd Shave!

On April 21, 2017 Cookstown Central Public School in Cookstown, Ontario held their second Shave for the Brave, and it was a powerful event.

Thirty Shavers went under the clippers or faced the scissors in support of young adults living with, through, and beyond cancer. Together the Shavers raised $6,779, which puts their two year total of over $18,500 raised and 49 heads shaved!

School Head Hunter Sarah O’Reilly reflected on a special moment during the Shave when three sisters (grades 1, 2, and 6) earned their bright yellow toques in honour of their grandmother.

“The grade 6 sister shaved holding the hand of her grandmother who also shaved her head. The grandmother came straight to the school from a cancer treatment. This was the last of the Shaver/hair donors, and they received a standing ovation. There was not a dry eye in the gym.”

Big thank you to all the Shavers, staff and parents for the support, and to A Beautiful Thing Hair Salon and Persona Spa for volunteering their time as stylists! 14 Students after their shave
