Localife Ottawa returned to the Maplesoft Center once again for the year two kick off barbecue on September 27. Participants arrived between 5-6 p.m. as the Ottawa rush hour caused a few traffic jams along the way. We had game with the mini Thumball while we waited for more participants to arrive.
The Localife leaders barbecued hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers while everyone else enjoyed a great tray full of vegetables. We had a great turnout of both new and returning participants alike and we all enjoyed a lovely sunset sitting out on the patio at Maplesoft.
We headed inside to the family room and kitchen as the crisp fall air started to set in where Brandon Fong officially stepped down as a Localife leader and Meghan Dutton was introduced as the other half to Chris Chow’s team. There were many discussions about all of the YACC programs and people shared stories from Retreat Yourself Adventure 2013, summer vacation stories, and a few good laughs. Of course, we also enjoyed a dessert of DQ Sandwiches from Dairy Queen.
The event was a great start to year two and we are looking forward to the next activity!
