We have made a lot of amazing connections through digital programming over the last three years, but we know nothing beats bringing the community together in real life.

*IMPORTANT: This “house party” will be drug- and alcohol-free.*

We’ll spend the day hanging out, connecting, and sharing stories! The goal is to help you deepen your relationships with your local YACC community and feel supported. Think of it as a one day mini retreat mixed with the cozy, low-key vibe of spending the day at a friend’s house.

Throughout the day, you can expect to connect with a bunch of people who get it, share what you feel comfortable sharing about your cancer experience, laugh at the face of cancer, eat some sandwiches and have lots of fun! We will have discussions on topics we know matter to you and that will leave you feeling more connected, supported, and better equipped to kick cancer’s ass.

The day will run from approximately 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. including a couple of breaks and an hour lunch together!

Who’s invited?

The YACC House Party is an informal “open house” held at a venue for young adults who were diagnosed with cancer before the age of 40 and are currently between 18-39.

You are welcome to invite one guest to join you (like a friend, partner, sibling, etc.) who is also between 18-39.

"When I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, I was so lost. I had lots of supportive friends and family and many people reaching out asking what they could do to help and what I needed, but the truth was that I didn’t know what I needed. I found YACC while searching for online support groups very shortly after my diagnosis and saw that they had a 'House Party' event upcoming. I started off 2023 with a goal to start stepping outside of my comfort zone so I decided to take a leap and go. I’m so happy I did. By attending I found what I needed. I needed connection and to feel understood. The staff and other YACCers were so friendly and inclusive. I had the opportunity to talk, listen, be heard, and feel validated by people who really understood and were going through similar journeys. If there is anything I can impart to someone who is newly diagnosed like myself; It’s take the leap."

"I had a great time at Ottawa's House party in November 2023! It was great to see old friends and make new connections! Finally got to meet YACCers I had met virtually during the past three years. I felt normal being with 20-ish other young adults diagnosed with cancer. Having time to connect with others who get it is so important. I left with a heart filled with love and gratitude."
